The sports betting sites are keeping a close eye on the moves that the Miami Marlins are making in MLB. With the Marlins needing to sell tickets to pay for its new stadium, the team has already extended an offer to Mets’ shortstop Jose Reyes and Reyes is expected to take the offer. Obviously, the Marlins are ready to invest money in the team that has never been invested before and the team is only getting started.
According to price per head bookmaking experts, the Marlins have extended an offer to St. Louis slugger Albert Pujols that covers 10 years and could be worth a total of $200 million. That number is just slightly above the $195 million total offer that the Cardinals made Pujols before this season started. It is unknown if the Cardinals have been in contact with Pujols or if St. Louis has increased its offer. Reyes is expected to sign this week and Pujols is expected to make a decision some time in the next week or two.
In other free agent news, Texas pitcher C.J. Wilson continues to be a prime target of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels have had extensive contact with Wilson’s agent since the middle of the season, and it is expected that the Angels will make a serious offer to Wilson at some point this week. There was one deal rumored to be for six years that was put on the table, but the deal never materialized and it is unknown as to whether or not that was a preliminary offer to Wilson from the Angels, according to a Betonline review.
