Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays and infielder Martin Prado of the Atlanta Braves have each earned the MLB's player of the week honors. When betting on either player experts would have suggested some sort of craziness would be attached to your bet. But after the strong early play of Bautista and Prado, experts must start to believe weekly honors as a sign of things to come. Bautista's success has come as a result of him being an opportunist as the Blue Jays have gone through a variety of injuries both in the outfield and infield which have provided Bautista the chance to show his abilities.

This past week when he received the honor of American League player of the week, Bautista batted .444 (8 for 18) with four home runs eight runs batted in and eight runs scored. Although he has played strong, Bautista may eventually become a victim of circumstance as outfielder Fred Lewis has taken his role as the leadoff man moving Bautista to the seven hole and third baseman Edwin Encarnacion has returned after a shoulder injury. Further Bautista is presently in the lineup as a result of top prospect Travis Snider being placed on the 15 day disabled list due to a wrist injury. When he returns, Blue Jays management need to figure out where to put Bautista in the lineup as having him come off the bench or demoting him would be a great injustice. In the National League, infielder Martin Prado earned player of the week honors after belting his first career grand slam and career high five runs batted in over a weekend series against the Atlanta Braves. With players such as Bautista and Prado putting up great numbers for their teams MLB betting has never been more fun for fans.
