While most of Boston is focused on Celtics Cavaliers betting , the Red Sox are off to a sluggish start in Beantown. They have plenty of time to bounce back, but they have a few issues to work out.
Fenway Park
The Red Sox have long been one of the best teams in the majors at home, and during the regular season last year, they were 56-25 at Fenway. But so far, the Red Sox are only 6-8 at home as of Tuesday. They kicked off a 10-game homestand against the Angels on Monday with a 17-8 win, but they welcome the hated Yankees to town next, followed by Toronto.
Injuries
The Red Sox are missing three-time Gold Glove outfielder Mike Cameron, who has played just 11 games because of a hernia, while fellow outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has played in six games due to a rib problem. Their replacements in the outfield have accounted for five of Boston's 20 errors, which is second behind Detroit for the most in the league.
Pitching
This is the biggest problem, as Clay Buchholz is the only Boston started to have an ERA under 4.00. Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield both have ERAs over 6.00, while Jon Lester and John Lackey are in the mid-4.00s. Daisuke Matsuzaka has an ERA of 11.57 in his only start of the Northbet.com wagering year. Even closer Jonathan Papelbon hasn't been invincible this year. If the Red Sox are going to move their way up the betting ranks, their pitching simply has to be better, especially in a division with the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.
