As the 2010 MLB season moves into its third week, fans of MLB betting are intently following the action in parks across America, furiously filling out their box scores, frantically evaluating data to get just the slightest edge when picking games. They're also eating hot dogs and enjoying this beautiful weather.
With two solid weeks of action in the books, we can begin to make cursory evaluations of where teams are at, and what we can expect from them in the short and long term. While situations and expectations can and will change, we will endeavour to be timely and topical, and evaluate just who has done what thus far.
There's only one team that's 5-0 over their last five games, and that's the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. While a Yankees-Devil Rays series has significantly less storied drama around it than a Red Sox-Yankees series, that doesn't seem to concern Tampa Bay, who are currently matching the Yanks on paper after a dozen games.
The biggest surprise is perhaps the Pittsburgh Pirates. Yes, I'm serious. The Pirates have won four of five to move into second place in the NL Central - just one game behind St. Louis. Thus far, Pittsburgh's gamble to replace their old guard with a slew of new players for 2010 seems to be paying off.
The Seattle Mariners are 4-1 in their last five Northbet.com betting games, and the team looks like they're starting to come around after a rough start. Fans of sports betting know that the Mariners have a legitimate shot at winning the AL West this season if they can keep Cliff Lee and Felix Hernandez healthy for the majority of action this year.
